Eckhart Tolle: The Power of Now, question on egoic mind?
Hopefully someone will know the answer to the following question on this hugely inspiring ‘piece of art’ by Eckhart Tolle.
He talks about the egoic mind always wanting to be right and the other person to be wrong, because that stands for some kind of victory while being wrong equals death.
To get ‘control’ of the egoic mind we need to watch it, not thinking about it, just observing it. And I guess just letting it be, but always remaining aware!
But when we want to be right and we become aware of it, this will make it hard to continue watching it without interrupting. Because once you are aware that you are just attempting to be right, you will obviously stop your attempt to be right.
I haven’t yet figured out if we need to let it (the situation) happen and if just being aware would already be sufficient enough to deal with the egoic mind. So that would mean that your still continue your urge to be right, but with awareness.
Hopefully my question is clear enough, it is hard to describe it in easy terms. People who have read the book and understood/applied it to their life, will hopefully be able to give answer to this question.
How about you, what do you think? Tell me and I'll send you a free gift.
